Achieving Cisco Certified DevNet Associate certification proves your skills in developing and maintaining applications built on Cisco platforms. To earn DevNet Associate certification, you pass one exam that covers the fundamentals of software development and design for Cisco platforms.

New Cisco Automation Certification - The new Cisco Automation certification track, effective February 3, 2026, will include the following certifications:

  • CCNA Automation: Formerly known as DevNet Associate.
  • CCNP Automation: Formerly known as DevNet Professional.
  • CCIE Automation: Formerly known as DevNet Expert.

This rebranding aligns with the evolving job market and reflects the core skills required for network automation engineers. The new certifications will validate practical automation skills, including scripting, configuration management, and full-scale enterprise automation and orchestration. Cisco's goal is to create a generation of network engineers who can automate, optimize, and manage complex networks using modern tools and code-based solutions.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites for DevNet Associate certification, but you should have a good understanding of the exam topics before taking the exam.

Ideally, DevNet Associates candidates also have one or more years of experience with software development including Python programming.
